Ganesha went crazy with the candy.

Ganesha ate so much sweets that his stomach burst open. Pretty crazy stuff. 

He tied his stomach together with a snake, but that didn’t help much.

Ganesh loves candy—this is symbolic of loving the “sweeter” side of life and the “sweet” side of spirituality. He also has a big belly so he can digest our problems.

Anyhow, so, the moon (Chandra) was kind of being a dick about it, right? He was laughing at poor ole’ Ganesha and his bursted open belly.

Wrong choice, Mr. Moon Man.

Ganesh was so upset with the moon that he cursed him to only show his entire face once a month! Hence the phases of the moon.
